Radius

SMS alert opt-in details

Last updated: July 10, 2026

SMS is an optional Radius Plus delivery channel. Users activate Plus first, then separately add a mobile number and consent to text alerts from Places & alerts. Email alerts do not require SMS consent.

Sender and service

The sender shown to users is Radius, the public-safety awareness service at radiusalert.app. Radius is an independently operated service and is the service name and SMS sender name shown to users. Business and compliance contact: john@radiusalert.app.

How users opt in

  1. The user searches an address on Radius, reviews its 1-mile report, and saves one place with an email address.
  2. The user chooses Radius Plus and completes the hosted checkout. Radius does not request a phone number or SMS consent at checkout.
  3. After Plus is active, the user opens Places & alerts, selects a saved place, and chooses the separate SMS alerts card.
  4. The user may enter a number in the field labeled Mobile number (optional). The SMS consent checkbox is separate and unchecked by default.
  5. The user checks the optional box and clicks Enable SMS alerts. SMS can begin only after Radius records the mobile number, affirmative consent, saved place, radius, alert settings, consent wording version, and consent timestamp.
  6. The user may instead choose Keep email only. Leaving the field blank or the checkbox unchecked does not limit Radius Plus or email alerts.

Consent is optional

SMS consent is not required to browse Radius, use the live map, save one free place, start or keep Radius Plus, receive Plus email alerts, see in-app notices, receive weekly report emails, or contact support. If the box is not checked, Radius does not send recurring SMS alerts.

Confirmation after opt-in

After a successful opt-in, Radius sends this confirmation:

What messages are sent

For users who opt in, Radius sends automated text alerts when a high or critical police, fire, EMS, rescue, crash, traffic, or other public-safety incident is reported within the saved place and alert radius. Low and medium activity is not sent by SMS. Radius does not use this opt-in for promotional, political, adult, or lead-generation messages.

Message frequency and charges

Message frequency varies with incident activity, saved-place settings, source availability, and delivery conditions. Some users may receive no messages during quiet periods; multiple qualifying incidents may produce multiple alerts. Message and data rates may apply. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Opt-out and help

Reply STOP to any Radius text to unsubscribe from SMS. Reply HELP for help. Stopping SMS does not cancel Radius Plus or email alerts. Users can also change delivery settings or remove a saved place from Places & alerts. For support, email support@radiusalert.app.
